Poor Sinner

Poor sinner.  Pathetic wanderer in utter darkness.  Why do you choose to walk alone?

Do you know where you are headed?  Do you know what is to come?  You will surely appear before His Holy Throne.

Why do you make fun of righteousness?  Why such a sport do you play?

When tears and anguish will be your food, and hopelessness on that day.

Why not rise up.  He calls your name.  He offers you joy and peace.

“Tis too much work.  My body’s tired.  I’ll take this present release.”

Then add to your food, that of a fool.  For the fool desires slumber.

Yet on that day your mind will clear.  Your folly you’re sure to remember.

Purposeful restraint

Something odd has occurred to me that has not knocked on my door in the past.  Contrary to popular belief among Christians, the sinful nature is quite intelligent in its own way.

I believe the sinful nature is oblivious to the fact that it will be destroyed.  But it is certainly not oblivious to what gives it Pleasure.  In fact, its entire focus is on the freedom it enjoys to sin.

The intelligence of the sinful nature can be found in its avoidance of restraint.  It will do everything it desires except those things for which it can be imprisoned.

Folly however is not that intelligent.  Folly will encourage the sinful nature to be stupid.  But a little wisdom goes a long way in making the sinful nature happy.

Perhaps this is the reason why so many Christians are caught up in such great sins.  How horribly sad.  When God stands ready to give wisdom without judgement to anyone who asks.

Folly at its Best

There is no crisis better than the one which gives those in power a chance to grab more to themselves.   There is no greater folly than to do oneself more damage by refusing to admit an error.

If there is a distinguishing difference between Christians and non-believers, it is that they recognize their folly and are willing to approach the Lord because of it.  Darkness hates the light and will not come into it for fear that its deeds may be seen.

It has been said the Christians are not perfect, just forgiven.  But to complete that phrase is the requirement that men who approach the Lord, to bear their folly, are willing to receive correction.

It is a horrible weight to bear ones on folly before the Lord.  It is folly upon folly to retain this stupidity in spite of knowing better.  For the judgment will show each man’s work according to truth. It is far better to receive failure because of our folly; the scorn of men rather than the scorn of God.

The man who writes this knows this to be true for I am a fool.

Pride of Man

To what shall the pride of man be compared?  It is like this:

“I will put forth my hand to grab a shaft of sunlight.  And after grabbing it I will hold it tightly and call it mine.”

And to what shall the Glory of God be compared?

The heavens are telling of the glory of God ; And their expanse is declaring the work of His hands.  (Psalms 19:1)

Can, by this comparison, we perceive the folly of the pride of man?

Just Stick That Seed and Move On.

It all started with a twist of God’s word, and wickedness among men was born.  Next came murder.  Now I’m not wise enough to know what the next elevation of sin was, and how it progressed to become a fullness of sin among men.  But I can be sure that we reached that point fairly early on.

Every day men fool each other into believing deadly folly.  And the truth of God has been accepted throughout the ages with the same percentage: Most don’t, some do.  (quite the mathematically calculated stat huh?)  I can’t speak for any days prior to about 20 years ago.  But I do think folly is becoming far more vocal today than ever before.  It’s not just the advent of radio signals that have promoted more broadly the things of wickedness.  It is the heart of man, as a whole, which is becoming less open to God’s truth.  But isn’t that what we were warned would happen?  “But evil men and impostors will proceed from bad to worse, deceiving and being deceived.  You, however, continue in the things you have learned and become convinced of, knowing from whom you have learned them, . . .”  (2 Timothy 3:13, 14)

Should we be concerned about this?  Nah.  Just stay the course and watch what happens.  Maybe they will involve us in the form of a persecution.  But it is they who they destroy.  If you have the truth of Christ within you, relax.  Speak with firmness and confidence.  But don’t let them drag you into the stupid war of man’s ideas regarding the Holy Commands of God.  We answer when asked.  But we should also learn when to refrain from another answer.

Look for the line of questioning.  Does it lead in a linear path?  Or does it do circles around the issue.  Avoidance is one trick men use to circumvent the truth.  Then, if that fails to provide the rotten fruit they are accustomed to eating, they will turn to blame.  For the sake of your partners in conversation, release yourself before they get to that point.  They will chase after all manner of folly regardless your involvement.  Go look for another conversation.  Let the seeds the Lord has given you remain planted.  Let’s see if something grows.

By His Grace.

Sadness

Today there is a sadness over me.  People who know me know I am a Christian.  And they know that I am not ashamed to speak of my love for the Lord Jesus.  Yet not one of them comes to ask.  I have taken this sadness to the Lord.   He reminded me that this is the case between man and animal.  Even though a man means no harm to the wild birds, not one will come to him because fear.  This is the fear that was instilled in the animals at the sin of Adam.

Does this mean that the Lord considers the wicked as mere animals?  The answer is yes.  Isn’t this the charge against us all if we remain outside the Lord’s provided salvation in Jesus?  Yes.  There is transformation from animal to man.  But few challenge their own fear.  They know they do not have peace with God.  Yet they encourage one another to remain in fear by making up stories.

Does this knowledge help my sadness?  In an odd way, yes this does help.  Because it defines the reason for the cause.  But the pain of watching them contrive a false sense of security abides.  All the while I am among them and can reveal true security.

They speak of money, knowledge, social position, angel worship, every religious ritual known to man, and entertainment, as if they hold the key to the complete security of eternity; that security which blots out all fear.  Every lie born from the imagination of man receives great praise or even debate.  All the while they purposely ignore the Lord Jesus and His people who hold the Gospel within them.  So this sadness continues, yet is abated a bit.
