Legs

It was the legs of men that carried them to a great assembly.  There they violently required the crucifixion of God’s Holy One.

It was the legs of men that carried them to the place of crucifixion.  There they hated him with utter contempt and violence.

It was the legs of men that carried them to their home while Jesus was delivered to the grave.  Those same legs carried them all their days, until they too went to the grave.

Your legs have carried you to this day!  Will they carry you into holy faith?  Or will you command your legs to take you to the place of unbelief; where you will certainly join those who railed at the mutilated flesh of God’s holy son?

This is the day to beg for mercy.  You are not promised tomorrow.

This is the day to serve the Living God with holy legs of faith in his promise.

Where are your legs taking you now?  Where will your legs find themselves when the Holy One of God returns?

An Epic Taking

One by one, they’ve come and taken our babies.  America was a haven for the freedom of God among the people, but only for a little while.  Now, the freedom of God among the people has been reduced to a roaring silence.

It is common place now to ignore those who say such things.  “Ignore him maybe he’ll just go away.”  I have heard of many who have become silent for just such a reason.

But take note of this, life will not allow a vacuum.  If God does not have freedom among the people, I guarantee you I know who does.

I cannot influence a single soul to be bold in Christ.  That will remain a personal choice.  But I am as firm as a steel spike driven into granite, I will not be silent.

One by one, they have come and taken away our babies.  And with the taking God’s  freedom has been taken as well.

“Where’s the Beef?”

We are told not to judge others.  Why?  We judge the traffic lights.  We judge how high we can jump.  We judge whether something is going to hurt us or not.  We judge whether something can be profitable.  We judge everything all the time.  So what do they mean when they say we are not allowed to judge others?

If you went to a dinner at someone’s house and there was no food, wouldn’t you make the right judgment, and figure out quickly, you’re not going to eat here?  Would it be judging the host to mention that there is no food?  Would we be judging him to ask why?

I have noticed something about society that others never mention.  And I know people will think I am judging them when I mention it.

The fact is, they are judging me for the words that I’m about to say.  Somehow the word judgment became synonymous with comparison or assessment.  Its not the same idea folks!  What people mean when they don’t allow us to judge is that what we’re saying to them hurts.  “Get over it.”

Other than cursing, where the word “God” among us?

We don’t even say god bless you, unless someone sneezes.  But even then, we may simply say, “Bless you”.

It’s true!  Am I judging others because I point this out?

I understand the reason why we don’t tell others about the Gospel.  It’s simply a matter of fear.  Or the response quickly comes,  “It’s just not socially acceptable”.

But I can’t explain why even the three letter word “God” is absolutely absent from conversations in public.  I have to admit I’m astounded and dumbfounded at realizing this this morning.

Have you ever been to a store where the teller said, “May God bless you” as you left?  Do you realize how out of place that would be?  Have we have become accustom to speaking like an absolutely godless nation, or what!

We greet one another with every possible variety of greeting (other than the mention of God).

And lest you think I’m being stupid here, blessing each other in the name of God had been a tradition since the beginning of Man.  Not anymore, huh.

Let the reader answer for himself,.  But the question is obvious, “why”.

Don’t you think this is rather conspicuous?  Why doesn’t anybody ask about this!

(I wrote this on Facebook first.  But in the short time it takes to cut and paste, I felt anger as I put it here.  I don’t think the anger is mine.)

Fruitless Abandon

With agony of soul, I woke up this morning.  I saw God’s desire clearly laid out; “Bring my word to the people that they may have life.”

I looked to the people and saw how they reject this call!  I saw how they turn their face from anyone who will be bold in Christ.  And the agony grew.

Oh!  How much He is willing to give!  How fearful we are to receive!  All the while, today will end like many others have; fruitless for eternity, filled with fear, perplexed at the growth of wickedness, and resigned to simply endure.

Let everyone examine.  Is this right?

Go Down Death

Every day brings more beauty.  Every day brings another reason to try afresh.

Wintley Phipps has allowed us a glimpse into a faith that is rare.  Come listen to him.  Come be encouraged.  Come and learn to fear the One who made you.  Come and learn what love is.

Rather, Be Trivial

We are taught to give up.

We are taught to be trivial.

“Do these things and you will be satisfied.

Abstain from the things of God;

See how complicated and unknown are God’s things to man.

See how many versions of God scream to be first.

See how it is right to give up the search.

Be satisfied with what you have, and do not seek more than is reasonable.”

Rather be trivial.

Rather live with the love that you have.

Rather be diligent with the things you already know how to do.

Perceive the beautiful things of living life;

among your fellow men,

Among the sustaining of this world.

Among the limitations of chaos,

Among the decaying pattern of this place,

And among the innate desire to laugh.

Truth says clearly:

“You KNOW this is not the sum of things.

You KNOW there is More to be had.

You KNOW the ways of man are not the fullness of life.

You KNOW you will one day cease here.

You KNOW you will be inspected with absolute scrutiny.

Do you KNOW the name of the One who will inspect?
