Belonging

I can say no better than did Charles Spurgeon:

Morning, October 19 Go To Evening Reading

“Babes in Christ.”

—1 Corinthians 3:1

Are you mourning, believer, because you are so weak in the divine life: because your faith is so little, your love so feeble? Cheer up, for you have cause for gratitude. Remember that in some things you are equal to the greatest and most full-grown Christian. You are as much bought with blood as he is. You are as much an adopted child of God as any other believer. An infant is as truly a child of its parents as is the full-grown man. You are as completely justified, for your justification is not a thing of degrees: your little faith has made you clean every whit. You have as much right to the precious things of the covenant as the most advanced believers, for your right to covenant mercies lies not in your growth, but in the covenant itself; and your faith in Jesus is not the measure, but the token of your inheritance in him. You are as rich as the richest, if not in enjoyment, yet in real possession. The smallest star that gleams is set in heaven; the faintest ray of light has affinity with the great orb of day. In the family register of glory the small and the great are written with the same pen. You are as dear to your Father’s heart as the greatest in the family. Jesus is very tender over you. You are like the smoking flax; a rougher spirit would say, “put out that smoking flax, it fills the room with an offensive odour!” but the smoking flax he will not quench. You are like a bruised reed; and any less tender hand than that of the Chief Musician would tread upon you or throw you away, but he will never break the bruised reed. Instead of being downcast by reason of what you are, you should triumph in Christ. Am I but little in Israel? Yet in Christ I am made to sit in heavenly places. Am I poor in faith? Still in Jesus I am heir of all things. Though “less than nothing I can boast, and vanity confess.” yet, if the root of the matter be in me I will rejoice in the Lord, and glory in the God of my salvation.

Be Thou Use Filled

When Jesus is lifted up in his Church, his presence is the Church’s power—the shout of a king is in the midst of her. “I, if I be lifted up, will draw all men unto me.” Let us go out this morning on our work of soul fishing, looking up in faith, and around us in solemn anxiety. Let us toil till night comes, and we shall not labour in vain, for he who bids us let down the net, will fill it with fishes.

Charles Spurgeon, Morning and Evening.

What Price? What Cost?

💸💰💵💷💶💴

For an agenda the people are sold. And the payment for them rots before it reaches the hand of he who sold them.

“I want this.”

“Well, l want that.”

Off they go to get what they want. It never turns out as pristine as their imagination told them it would be.

God has an agenda. Who wants to agree with Him?

The only time it’s too late is when you no longer breathe the air of this world.

Testify of “TODAY”

In the remembrance of God: we speak of things He has done in generations past, and we speak of things He will do in generations yet to come.

WHAT ABOUT THE GENERATION THAT IS. . . WE?!

This is the time that IS.

Man’s Futile Judgments

There are many who do not know. They have not been able to consider: That the wrath of God is not at all like the wrath of a man.

Man’s wrath, in my mind, is like the senseless blood thirst of a pack of dogs against a helpless prey. Man perceives some offense, in varying degrees of severity. He lashes out with some makeshift judgment. As if he can rid eternity of this perceived offense. “I will destroy you until even God agrees you never lived.”

Sad upon sad, that Man attributes this vile sense of equity to the wrath of God.

I mean no harm to anyone by bringing this up. But I mean to bring glory to The Righteous Living God in Christ. I mean to open the eyes of my brothers of flesh.

Man is born in futility. All man’s doings are nothing more than futility. His judgments are shortsighted, his desire for peace – mired in a tar pit. If he kills a man, he presumes to have simply ended and irritating matter. Perceived righteous judgment turned violent.

But consider the wisdom of God’s wrath, vengeance, “striking out” (if you will). If He does away with a man’s life here on earth where does the soul of that man go? Doesn’t it go to the One who just struck him with death. Doesn’t it go to He who is Love? Man is only striving to still the waters. God is forever trying to impart Life.

There so much more to say about this. But what value are my words to anyone? Wouldn’t it be vastly better for you to go to the One from whom I have received this understanding? He can explain in the blink of an eye what it would take me four years to unravel in the words of Man.

But understand this, nothing God does finds its beginning in futility. It is all for the purpose of Love and Life.

It used to be that if men found someone ranting insanely in panic, they would slap them in the face to wake them up. (today, that’s not PC.). That’s what is happening as the world crashes in on man’s version of prosperity and peace. It’s a wake up call with endless, boundless, intent for love.

There is eternal destruction, yes. But the offer on the table before you is Life. His name is Jesus.

Our Violent Preoccupation

No man is capable of doing the things we say are expected of him, anymore than we ourselves can produce a crop of pure righteousness.

Why then do you ridicule your brother? Why do you say he is worthless? Isn’t it because you yourself can’t have what you want? Isn’t it because, in your own wicked eye, you perceive that he has taken something from you?

Have you been to truth? Have you been to the truth that devastates every man? Have you tasted your own condemnation? How many things have you denied your fellow man? How many things have you robbed from others simply because you exist?!

I propose your mouth would slam shut at the revealing of your own sin! That day is most assuredly coming.

The truth of Christ calls out in the streets, in your home, and in your own soul. Yet who will listen voluntarily? Who will listen until he rocks back-and-forth, recognizing his own helplessness?

Do not say you love God while you bash your brother’s soul against the rocks!

I write this as one of you. If Our God had not convicted me of my sins and taught me what is true, like you I would have nothing to say. But because I have seen what is true, (and am devastated) I am compelled to join Him in crying out in the streets. I am nothing, Christ is ALL.

Go to God in prayer. Confess your own failings. If you think you have none, ask him to show you. He is happy to reveal as much as you can stand.

I guarantee, any man to whom his sin is shown will drive his own face to the dust with remorse. His boasting, his hatred for his brothers, his sense of self righteousness, and his expectations of perfection from others will diminish radically.

Stop your ridiculous onslaught against your brother, humble yourself before God, and receive the truth.

If not today, when? Our days are numbered. The sum of them will come. Who do you want to be? Stop being preoccupied with your brother’s failings. Take a long hard look at your own.
