Who Killed this 14 Year Old Boy?

The Gay Pride march in London 1999

I just read an article about a 14 year old boy who killed himself.  The article says it was because he had been bullied by others for his sexual preference.  The article goes on to say that this is horrible and points to homosexual groups as saying that such things can be avoided if we would just be more tolerant.

What a foolish age I find myself living in.  When I was 14 I hadn’t heard anything about such sexual preferences.  You might say that my ignorance was something that belonged to that age.  And that today I need to catch up to the things which require tolerance.  Are you so blind that you don’t perceive what’s happened here?  It was not the boy who decided he was bent toward members of his own boyhood.  It was the adults who have made this item a matter of national interest.  You adults who promote your filthy sexual preferences as if they are worthy of national acclaim are the ones who killed this child.  You told him that he has every right to chase after every form of sin.  And he has paid the price for your foolishness.  You killed him by insisting that you have your own way.  You negate the Law of God so that you can chase after any pleasure you desire.  And you hate anyone who denies you this foolish “right”.

Hate me.  And you will.  Because I spoke the truth here.  And God will uphold these words.  The same could be said of those who drink to excess, then brag that they have the right to do as they please.  They teach the children how to sin.  The same could be said of you parents who allow yourselves to watch porn, or teach your children that a yellow light means speed up.  The same could be said of every adult who treats God’s Word the Bible as if it were simply a book of myths, and is only good because of it’s cover.  The same could be said of you who proclaim to be Christians yet your children never see you pray or consider God’s ways in your finances, relationships, or testimony.

Though we are all to blame for the horrifying mess this world is entering, there is no doubt that those who sin and teach others to do the same will be judged more harshly.  Withdraw your sin from public view and you will cause others to consider their ways also.  Proclaim that you have the “right” to be perverse, and others will be strengthened to do the same.

One Thing Never Sleeps.

Leaves fall from trees, and they appear to sleep for a season.  Roll a ball and there is a place where it stops rolling.  Fill up your gas tank and it will eventually run dry.  A baby is born, one day becomes an old person then dies.  We sit down to a meal at a certain time.  And there also comes a time when the meal is done.

Everything in this world has a beginning and an end.  Well, this is true of almost everything.  There is something that never stops or takes a break.  Fill up an hour-glass with sand.  And turn the full portion to the top.  Watch the grains of sand drop.  And marvel at their exact rate.  Then consider that even if the hour-glass runs out time does not stop.  Wind up a watch and the spring will unwind.  But time doesn’t stop.  Only our measurement of time runs out.  But time does not sleep.  It doesn’t take a vacation.

Time is the only indication we have of eternity.  The physical manifestation of God’s existence.  None of us can imagine the time of God.  He always was and always will be.  He never sleeps or takes a vacation.  And nothing He does ever finds an end.  What the Lord does only transforms from one thing to another.

There is death.  And we could say that we cease to be at that moment.  But we would only be speaking from our perspective.  This is not so with God.  For at the moment of death, time does not stop.  And at that very moment we become the end result of our time here.

There is the Lord’s promise of good and bad in this situation.  Many will taste the place where nothing is beautiful, sweet, peaceful, or pleasant.  But some will taste eternity with an unspeakable joy.  The key to our next experience with time after we die here depends on our relationship with the Most High God.  He will never experience a place where He is not at peace.  For He is God!  But He has promised that if we do not learn to love Him here, we will certainly hate Him there.  And He will not allow anything wicked to enter His presence.

He has allowed us the sacrifice of His Son Jesus that we might enter into that eternal relationship with Him.  But this is the ONLY door to His presence.  Nothing ungodly will enter eternity with joy.  And only what He has built will stand the test of His Holy Fire.  All else will find itself in a place He has created to receive the trash of creation.  I encourage you to seek His peace now.  For time does not stop.  It is merciless as it travels through.  There is no such thing as a “do over” in life.  This is the day you have been given to accomplish the Holy Will of God.  And how can you know what His perfect will is if you don’t accept His Holy Will borne through the sacrifice of His Son Jesus?

Jesus; all the proof I need.

Many chide the Christian because they say, “There is no God”.  I don’t really care what you think of me and the Lord who has proven Himself to me.  Proven?  Absolutely.  Proven!  Here’s your quandary:

If you want proof that the Lord Jesus exists and is the God who made all that is, believe.  As you believe you will receive the proof that the Lord Jesus exists and is the God who made all that is.

During the night there was a loud noise.  I went downstairs to check it out.  Looked around.  Went out to sit on the porch a while and listen.  There was no sign of anything.  I went back in to see if anything had been moved.  Nothing could be found to support the noise I had heard.

People without the “proof” of God would have been on edge.  I wasn’t.  There was a great peace about me.  This is not the man I used to be.  The slightest noise would wake me and every nerve I own would have been on alert.  But there was great peace.  My looking around was more a curiosity than a search for danger.  Why?  Because the Lord Jesus has proven to me that He is the creator of all that is.  And that I belong to Him!  He is enough, within me, to cause me to live at rest no matter the circumstances.

You want proof of what I say?  Then believe.  As you believe and live according to His word, you will begin to recognize the proof I speak of.  If you continue to only chide those who say they have what they call proof, you will remain locked outside the proof you want.

Matthew 6: 24 (The God and Money Passage)

A Master Lock brand padlock.

“You cannot serve two masters”, the Lord said.  In this passage He spoke of the comparison between God and money.  But isn’t it true that it’s not money who sat and listened as He poured out this truth?  Wasn’t it people who had the ears to hear?

So the people, being the ones to whom He spoke were to consider their allegiance to God.  When you strive to have something of this world you are striving in the wrong direction.  That’s the point.  Money just happens to be the primary tool men use to grasp at what they want in this world.

We will become a slave to that which has mastered us.  Much like this pad lock bears the name of its maker.  How appropriate.  I could say that the point is, don’t be locked down by a desire for anything in this world.

Frankly, money is not the object of the passage.  God is the focus of Jesus’ words.  As it was with all His ministry, God the Father was the singular reason He appeared before us.  And God will be the focus of Jesus for eternity.  In that focus He was showing us to abandon all ties to this world and seek after His Father’s will.  If money is something the Father decides you need to have to accomplish His will, you will receive it.  But above all seek His will first!

I think there’s only one person in the world who is ashamed of the Lord Jesus.  I haven’t found him or her yet.  I know what I’m looking for though.  It’s that person who will never mouth the name of Jesus in any serious terms.  He or she will laugh at you if you speak about the Bible.  If you approach the group of people he or she hangs around in and mention Jesus, that person will turn beet red and start to fidget.  And I’m looking for that person whose library is full of all kinds of “self-help” books.  But you’d never find a dust line of a Bible.  The person I’m looking for is obviously self righteous.  So it shouldn’t be too hard to spot them.

If you find this person give me a call at 333-333-3333.  Thanks for your time.  Hope we locate that person.   It would be a shame to watch them quiver at the sound of the Father’s voice as He pronounces the sentence of death.  Surely we can all pitch in to help turn this soul from such a death.

Truth or Dare: Liberals, Moderates, and Conservatives

In the world of politics the title of this post is true.  Those are three categories we could all identify in some fashion.  This is also true in the world of social norms.  Some people will cross the road regardless where the cross walk is.  And they don’t pay much attention to traffic (as long as they think they won’t get hit).  Others will only cross the road if they think it’s something others do rather often.  They check both ways for safety sake.  They consider where they are and try to remember if they’ve seen a dead person on the road where they’re thinking of walking across.  Then there are those who will always use the cross walk, waiting patiently for the lights to change.

Christianity is no different.  There are those who will water down the Bible so that they feel good about themselves regardless what the Scripture says.  They say to themselves (and to God), “My intentions are good.  God will understand my limitations and greet me with joy come the day of judgment”.

There are those who watch the political and social landscape of the Church and adapt themselves to whatever wind of change or norm they perceive about them.  They neither study the Scripture for themselves, nor allow their ears to hear truth.  They’re far more interested in “fitting in”.

Then we find those who have understood their personal responsibility.  They understand that they will be held accountable for every written Word of God.  And they study with diligence.  They encounter a truth and, regardless the social or political makeup of the Church, will strive to adapt their mind and actions to accommodate the demands of God.

Liberal, moderate, conservative, which are you?
