Wisdom, please come and take me,
Show me what I don’t know.

From my point of view, God is indescribably great.
Some may call my point of view theology. But in saying that, I think they would have a hard time nailing down what I believe. Even I would have a hard time finding supporting scriptures. But then I’m not a scholar. And my knowledge of Scripture is usually pointed in the direction of application, not theology.
What I believe has come to me by Bible reading, faith, prayer and diligent observation of God moving in my life.
In the way of Bible reading, I am relatively fluent. But there are certainly masters of the art. I may well remember what it says, but I likely can’t tell you chapter and verse.
I say faith. I’m afraid you need a microscope to find mine. If faith the size of a mustard seed can move a mountain, how much can I hope to brag. The Rockies are still where I found them. The Appalachians are still filled with trails to hike. And there are still enough hills in America to hide gigantic wheat fields.
As far as prayer is concerned, I am no prayer warrior. I am more the man who will pray as he knows, and ask to be taught. It is here that God has revealed enough to make me able to walk as a Christian.
I am no prophet as some define Prophets. And I am no teacher, but for the fact that we all teach by the way we act.
And as far as diligent observation goes, I see with what bleak eyes God has chosen to give me. I watch the wind blow. I listen to the words men speak. I take note of the way of men as opposed to the way of God. And I even listen to the birds.
All of this was written to admit I know nothing. All of this was written to avoid a war of words and ideas.
With all that said let’s get back to the idea of how great God is.
We are a product of an answer to an accusation. The accusation is that God demands too much and does not provide sufficiently. (this is the specific belief that may draw conflict)
How great is God? God is so great that he allowed an enemy to amass, in a place that he willingly created.
God is so great that he entered this mass of enemy. He assumed their form and there was nothing beautiful about him that he should be desired.
God is so great that he willingly taught this enemy about a way to live instead of die. All this he has done knowing what would happen.
God is so great that he allowed his enemy to take him by force.
God is so great that he did not complain while they mocked and beat him.
God is so great that he allowed them to strip him of all his glory. He let them flogg him to the point that he was no longer recognizable as a man. And in this he made no complaint or accusation.
And here is the crowning achievement of the greatness of God: that when the Word of God assumed his place as the rightful King of kings, he reached down to his mass of enemy, and continually offers salvation for those who hate him.
Yes God is great! Men may dispute his existence. But for those who believe, he is the supreme power of salvation.
Oh how my soul wants to continue. There are so very many reasons why God is great. But I’ll leave this to stand.
May the spirit of God strengthen, convict and convert as the will of God dictates.

Living a life provided by us, can only lead to an eternity provided by us. “Unless the Lord builds the house the builder builds in vain.”

“Salvation belongs to our God and to the lamb!” This will be the song sung by those who arrive in heaven, dressed for eternity. It will not be sung by those who think they can save themselves. No work of man can produce the attire necessary to stand before the Living God. Simple logic brings us to this conclusion.
As an aside: I met a man who told me he had no time for Jesus. He said he would take his chances in the Judgment Day. I will give the man this, at least he was being honest with his folly.
The power of God alone can turn a man from fool to wise. Those who live in truth before the Holy Lord, will cannot lie. It is impossible to stand before Him and do anything other than tell the truth. The perfection of God demands it. How then can the man who trusts in his own strength sing that song?
I do not write this article to make fun of people. I write this article that everyone may understand. From the simple to the great, salvation is extended freely. Yet only those who humble themselves before the Living God, will find it.
39 “You study the Scriptures diligently because you think that in them you have eternal life. These are the very Scriptures that testify about me, 40 yet you refuse to come to me to have life.” (John 5)
No righteousness belongs to man. If a man is able to memorize the entire Bible, it does not save him. God does not take pride in such a child. God in his excellent wisdom has reserved His Holy Son alone, that men may be saved. The song does not say, “Salvation belongs to those who have saved themselves”.
When the Lord Jesus was with his disciples on the mountain, and was transformed before their very eyes, the Holy Father spoke. Of all the myriad of things the Holy Father could have said, what did he say? “. . .This is my Son, whom I love; with him I am well pleased. Listen to him!” (Matthew 17:5)
God did not say, “Read the Bible and do what it says”. The Bible is a written and concrete evidence of the covenant of God toward man. But the Living God, and His strength to save is, found exclusively in his Living, Righteous and Holy Son.
Pride comes when man thinks he owns anything by his own strength. But salvation comes when all the man has belongs to God.
If anything is not of God it will not endure the Judgment Day. Eternity is Holy. Nothing will ever be in it but that which is God.
There will be no pride in heaven. There should be no pride among us here. If a man thinks he is something, he deceives himself and does not understand the truth.
Reading the Bible, alone, cannot save you. It is necessary that every man should humble himself before the Living God, and receive the power of his Holy Son’s sacrifice and eternal Kingship.
Find a man who knows the Bible through and through, yet does not commune with the Living God in Christ Jesus, and you will find a man who is full (to overflowing) with pride and false humility. But living in vibrant fellowship with the Living God’s Holy Son, produces humility, by crushing the pride in which a man trusts.
If still you need proof, read the Holy Law that God gave to his people through Moses. Now for 24 hours, do that law. You will find yourself falling short within an half hour.
Those who think they can save themselves by memorizing and understanding the Bible, are like those who live by the law. Not one man can obey it completely. And every man who tries will die. Remember what the Apostle Paul said. “Those who depend on obeying the Law live under a curse. For the scripture says, ‘Whoever does not always obey everything that is written in the book of the Law is under God’s curse!’” (Galatians 3: 10)
May the Living God grant understanding.

A man sat in the early morning darkness. The stars lit his face with imperceptible glow.
The chained dog, below the man’s perch, barked at something imperceptible.
Standing, the man spoke to the dog, “What do you see?”
At that the dog ceased its barking and a vague tail could be perceived to wag.
With a kind word. With a peaceful heart, wisdom shut the mouth full of teeth.
What the dog perceived, moved with stealth into the obscurity from which it came.
The dog settled quietly to wait for another perception of breech to his domain.
And the man sat to marvel:
“The promise to Noah has come to me. My sin is stronger than the teeth of my adversaries.”
“Be fruitful and increase in number and fill the earth. 2The fear and dread of you will fall on all the beasts of the earth, and on all the birds in the sky, on every creature that moves along the ground, and on all the fish in the sea; they are given into your hands. 3Everything that lives and moves about will be food for you. Just as I gave you the green plants, I now give you everything.” (Genesis 9:)
So, we have victory over that which comes against us; even the stubbornness of our folly among the things of this world, even the strength of our faith in eternity, even the Promises of the Holy One.
So, the testimony of God’s majesty moves among the men of this place of testing. So, we are without excuse. For the very things of our standing are plainly visible to all who will desire to perceive them. So, will all men be void of excuse!
If even this lowly and vile excuse of a Christian can see these things and understand, how much more so the righteous of God among us? I was not, am not, and have little. Any man can become far more than I, and this by the Grace of God in Christ Jesus His Holy Son.
Answer this question: Why do you marvel at such things? Why do they not swim about with gladness within your very own soul?
The child is taught,
“1 + 1 is 2;
2 Plus 2 is 4.”
And as “one” proceeds,
One multiplies the more.
And as he grows
The teaching throws
Confusion upon him.
The lie is born,
and he becomes:
A man.
“Many is greater than less.
Strength is found in mass.
‘United we stand!’
And thus we are blessed!”
Yet God will single him out.
The millions drop,
Along the “Way”.
And few are found,
In this very day,
To stand with strength;
The weak betrayed.
God’s wisdom:
Will single you out!
Deep, dark shadows on the land,
Cut their swath cross the mass of men.
Those with blazing faces stand,
To worship Christ the Lord.
Night is nearing; shadows long.
Invisible to the wicked throng.
The righteous stand and sing their song:
“All glory to God and the lamb!”
Will be a dreadful day, I’m told,
When the world will loose its gripping hold.
Sending righteous souls to their new home,
To reverence Christ the King.
