Avoiding the Arrow

In the days when arrows were the prime weapon of armies I’m sure there were warriors who could recognize the sound of a launch before the arrow got to them.  They would walk into battle listening for that special sound.  Then they had trained themselves to duck or dodge left or right before they had time to think about it.  It was a learned skill that kept them alive through many encounters.  And it must have frustrated the Bowman to watch his target avoid his attack.

This is a skill that can be mastered by the Christian.  It is quite possible to “hear” the launch of attacks from the evil one long before they reach us.  But we must learn to “listen” with all our might.  We must pay attention to what is happening NOW.  And we must learn to retreat into the power of the Holy Spirit quickly, even automatically.

Mark of the Beast.

You’ve heard about the mark of the beast.  You’ve heard that it’s not a good thing to receive that mark.  And you’ve likely said to yourself and others that you won’t get the mark!  Really.

If the mark of the beast were publicised as the “Mark of the Beast” you’d be pretty sure not to get that mark.  Especially if you’ve got your house, your car, your job, your food, and your clothing.  But what happens if all that is taken away and martial law rules the world?  You’re left with no house, no car, no job, no food, no clothing.  And your children are in extreme danger of starving or worse.  What then?

The question won’t be whether or not you’re a strong Christian.  The question will be whether or not the Lord enables you to stand against your own fears.  Then will not be the time to try to stand on your own.  But now is the time to seek the Lord Jesus in your life.  In order to stand against such horrible times and odds, you’ll need to have a seriously strong relationship with Jesus.

I’ve posted some of the scriptures related to this topic below.  May God grant you mercy that you might stand on the day of great trial.

By His Grace.

” It also forced all people, great and small, rich and poor, free and slave, to receive a mark on their right hands or on their foreheads,  so that they could not buy or sell unless they had the mark, which is the name of the beast or the number of its name.” (Rev. 13: 16,17)

And:

“9 A third angel followed them and said in a loud voice: “If anyone worships the beast and its image and receives its mark on their forehead or on their hand, 10 they, too, will drink the wine of God’s fury, which has been poured full strength into the cup of his wrath. They will be tormented with burning sulfur in the presence of the holy angels and of the Lamb. 11 And the smoke of their torment will rise for ever and ever. There will be no rest day or night for those who worship the beast and its image, or for anyone who receives the mark of its name.” 12 This calls for patient endurance on the part of the people of God who keep his commands and remain faithful to Jesus.” (Rev. 14)

Way Too Much Information.

In days past there was no mass media.  A man lived and prayed according to the knowledge he had.  He helped who came his way and did what he could in his own little corner of life.  It is not the same today in regard to media and knowledge.  But man has not changed.

While we listen to the media and hear from our friends of a massive turmoil in this world, let’s remember something.  One way to win over an opponent is to swamp him with so much to defend that he cannot focus on the singular attack which will pronounce him defeated.  You are no different than cain or able (or any other man), in that you are a singular human.  We war with what we have, not what we are yelled at to respond to.

Focus your attention on those things which you can effect in a positive manner.  dispel the call for praying and giving for every worthy need.  Though God is able to grant us far more than we can even imagine, we are still warriors placed on a certain plot of ground.  Do not let this world confuse you with the myriad of requests you now hear.  Keep your focus on Jesus and do what He gives you to do.  He knows we are limited.  Keep your hope fresh and do not waver in your faith.  Isn’t our faith the object the enemy is trying to defeat?

By His Grace.
