Repent or Die.

Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hanity, Glenn Beck, Mark Levine, and all the other “minor” pundants are all wrong.  While the “Left” thrives on lies, the pundants of the “Right” thrive on half truths.  So which is better if both are not complete?

God has established that man’s ways of sin will lead to a certain place.  In the end it will be called Armageddon.  But while in transit, man’s will is bound to appear in predictable fashion.  You men holler from your perches.  You scream and dance for the world.  You think you are telling the truth as you point out what is wrong with the world today.  You think you can predict where the world is headed.  But you are not telling the people that God has ordained that man should endure the fruit of his sin and rebellion.  You are not saying what is true.  You are simply pointing out what’s wrong.

Then I hear you mention a possible remedy to our plight.  You say that if we all band together we can stop this “train wreck” from derailing America.  You do no one favors by saying these things.  Not one man can correct the direction of mankind.  Man is headed for a deadly encounter with the Most High God.  And all you are saying is that we’re going that way because we didn’t try to stop it from happening.  In this you speak a particle of truth.  For each man is responsible for his own knees of humility.  But you will not stop or avoid the clash of man against the Lord Most High.

What is the completion of the message you will never spout?  “Repent or die”.  This you will not tell the people.  And so you will continue to dribble your partial truth.  While millions will devour your words as if they were candy.  And so the world will continue to spin right into the battlefield.  Here it comes!  It’s not far from every man.  But there is a place where God will make that “final stand”.  Since you will not say it, I will voice the words:  “REPENT OR DIE”.

By His Grace.

  2. Hiway,

Interesting — but you dribbled also when you use the most misunderstood word in the Bible, “repent” without any definition. Are you using the Biblical “repent” or the secular dictionary word?

    • I’ve never understood a different definition to “repent”, other than to abhore sin and turn from it with all our might. I might have misunderstood the term, but the effect is a receipt of the forgiveness of Christ Jesus.

  3. HiwayChristian,

On my Blog I have many posts explaining the Biblical meaning of Repentance — totally different from the dictionary, opposite of Billy Graham, Paul Washer, and so many “turn from sin for salvation” preachers.

Here is a quote from one of my articles on Paul Washer:
    Washer says:
The Gospel is to repent of your sins and believe the Gospel.
    The Bible says:
Not true – God’s Word never says we must “repent of our sins” for salvation. Repent means to change one’s mind — and then we believe/trust Jesus Christ as our Savior, that He died for our sins, paid our debt, rose from the grave and will give us the FREE gift of eternal life!. That is God’s Grace.

Washer says, speaking of becoming a believer:
Evangelists say, it takes only 5 minutes. Washer says, NO my friends, it will take your life.
This is simply the exact lie of Lordship/commitment salvation message, and is absolutely contrary to the message of God’s Grace.

God’s Grace requires absolutely no good works on our part for salvation, simply by Grace alone through Faith alone in Christ alone. Nothing more.

Highway Christian, your misunderstanding is not unusual — many people do the same until they understand Biblical Repentance and God’s True Grace.
    Ephesians 2:8-9
For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.

Here is the link to my article on false Repentance with a link within the comments to Washer’s error..

I pray this will assist your understanding of God’s Grace. You are right about “Repent or Die.” Yes, change your mind (repent) about Jesus Christ and trust Him as your Savior — not change your life hoping to gain God’s acceptance by good works.

    • The understanding I have regarding repentance comes from a personal experience with Jesus as my Lord. It seems a two edged sword. Initially we desire God’s will more than our own. But over time we learn that that desire comes directly from the Spirit of God calling us to a holy life. Perhaps this is the source of confusion. Christians will see repentance as a sort of hinge or pivot point in their lives with God. God’s calling and repentance are not seperate. Yet, to heed God’s calling and not repent is just foolishness. One can not be without the other.

For the non-Christian, repentance will seem like a mountain too high. And in this light, it is easy to see why. No man can please God without the Spirit of God. And the Spirit of God is not given without the Grace of God in Christ Jesus. As it is written, “We love Him because He first loved us”.

What you say is right. And the call to repentance from Christians to the world is spoken from the vantage point of those who already have Jesus’ promise in His finished work.

It’s curious that this item of The Faith is misunderstood. Perhaps that’s the point. Those who have the Lord will see repentance from a different point of view than those who do not. Isn’t it marvelous that such a deep subject can be written in such brief a phrase. “Repent or die”. At the same time, “You can’t repent unless you live by the Lord Jesus’ sacrifice”.

I will search out those links you’ve sent a little later this morning.

Thank you for your reply to the article. I have been deeply desiring that some would read these works and respond with an intelligently Christian word or two.

By the way, ex-preacher doesn’t seem to fit very well. The Lord won’t refer to you that way. And look, you still address the Word among His people.

      By His Grace.

  4. Regarding what I wrote in my reply:

A mix of works and salvation is absolutely against the Gospel of Christ. Yet, to have salvation will result in the Work of God within a man. If the man has gained favor from the Most High God it will be because God granted the gain. As I have often pointed out, all things Jesus. Again we see the Church allowing worldly understanding to filter into the message of the Gospel. How critical to learn that Jesus is first. But how understandable that men should often be misunderstood.

It is interesting that Jesus, in His messages to the churches in Revelation, addresses the short comings of His people as if they had a choice regarding pleasing God. But the key to understanding that expectation is that they DO have the Spirit of God to direct them in their “religion”. And it’s important to note those messages are not addressed to the unsaved.

Thanks again for your input. It is valuable to hash these things over. Left on his own, a man will settle back into the mud of his origin. Thus it is forever true, “Iron sharpens iron.”
