Got it? Really?

Men are mistaken in their apprehension of God.  Even those who worship Him cannot fully understand His Holy ways.  Right about the time we think we understand, another test or teaching appears from the hand of He who Lives Forever.

When we find ourselves empty in our prayers, there is a reason.  If we have sinned, that silence may seem like an angry God.  But I do not see it that way.  He is stern with us, demanding that we adhere to His commands.  But not that pouty little boy way that men foist on those who spurn their advise.  His face is beautiful!  Even if it is looking away from us for a moment.

The Love of God is not like the love of man.  He is actively searching our wicked hearts so that He can lead us into all things best.  I have said it before, and say it again.  I would rather the rebuke from the Living God than all the fame, love, wealth, and pomp this world can muster.  The first builds me into something eternally valuable.  The second only serves to hold me hostage until a remedy can be found to enslave me once again.

  1. Hello. This is interesting because it hinges on something amazing. We are in a season of much upheaval and while part of the situation is indeed a trial of faith, many aspects are the result of bad decision making and even chastisement. And while we could have done certain things in a way that would have been less perplexing, I have been thanking God for the chastisement. That he is dealing with me as a son and not allowing me to go in my own way. It does lead to reverence and love of God on a deeper level.

Our world is filled with people who seem to have it all togerther; who have more financial reserve than they could ever spend…..and they are headed for hell. As you mention at the end of this post, the loving rebuke of God is far more desirable than the pleasures of this world for a season. In fact, they arent really pleasures. Compared to the peace of God, the offerings of this world feel like……death.

Thanks for touching on this often misunderstood, and yet critical aspect of life as we strive to daily be more like Jesus and less like us.

    Blessings always in Jesus name.

  2. What comes to mind is this: “24“But woe to you who are rich, for you are receiving your comfort in full. 25“Woe to you who are well-fed now, for you shall be hungry. Woe to you who laugh now, for you shall mourn and weep. 26“Woe to you when all men speak well of you, for their fathers used to treat the false prophets in the same way.” (Luke 6)

How I yearn to see a contrite heart in every man I meet. I beg all men to consider the ways of the Holy God of all life. Now is the time to encounter Him. When we see Him in His fullness, we will be locked in what we have allowed Him to cause us to be here.

Thank you Tim. My prayers this morning were filled with truth regarding who I am opposed to who I should be at this place in my life. Though it is somewhat painful to give an accounting of myself as I find things to be, it will be far more painful for those who have hated His ways to give account of themselves without opportunity for change or renewal.

What this tells me is, “BE READY”! Give all you can, Paul. I can see how I will regret anything I’ve held back.

Oh Lord! God of heaven and earth, please provoke Your servants to yield to Your Righteous ways! By Your Holy Grace.
