To Own Eternity

Lord, everything I have in this world comes at a very steep price.  Every material possession drags down the soul.  Even if the only thing I owned was a single set of clothing, I would find myself concerned about getting it soiled or causing a tear.

But owning your promise requires no effort on my behalf.  In this belief is endless peace and joy.  And to tell the story of You is joy in itself.

So I offer you everything I have, to take it and use it as You please; to discard or enhance.  Only let me witness on Your behalf.  Only let me testify to the beauty of my God.

For there is life in the testimony.  There is joy in the witness.  And if by chance You cause fruit, all the more.

By your Holy Grace in Jesus I pray.  amen

  1. I am glad that the first question came from a young married couple. What a beautiful witness! Two young people who have chosen, who have joyfully and courageously decided to form a family. Yes, it is so true that it takes courage to form a family. It takes courage! And your question, young spouses, is linked to the question of vocation. What is marriage? It is a true and authentic vocation, as are the priesthood and the religious life. Two Christians who marry have recognized the call of the Lord in their own love story, the vocation to form one flesh and one life from two, male and female. And the Sacrament of Holy Matrimony envelops this love in the grace of God, it roots it in God himself. By this gift, and by the certainty of this call, you can continue on assured; you have nothing to fear; you can face everything together!
